What is Suape

Suape's Industrial Port Complex is one of the country's biggest economic development projects. The venture offers opportunities in various sectors, attracting investments and generating income for the workers who are proud to build a new history for Pernambuco.

Being only 40 kilometers away from Recife, Suape is interconnected with over 160 ports in all of the continents, and currently is the most strategic public port of the Brazilian Northeast, considering that 90% of the region's gross domestic product is found within a radius of 800 kilometers from the harbor. Thus it is a natural hub port, concentrating and distributing loads not only to the northeast, but also to the country's northern region.

Combining a concept of industry/port, the Suape Complex arose as a public institution in 1978, by means of the State Law #7763, which created the enterprise SUAPE - Industrial Port Complex, whose goal was to manage the implementation of the industrial district, the development of works and the exploration of port activities.

Today it is managed by the state enterprise called SUAPE - Governor Eraldo Gueiros Industrial Port Complex, linked to the Bureau of Economic Development of Pernambuco, by authorization of the Federal Government, and by the covenant signed on April 9th, 1992.
